Want to do something REALLY fun with the kids this Halloween than just Trick-Or-Treating? Hop on the ferry to Ocracoke and spend your weekend with Black Beard, for Black Beard's Pirate Jamboree! With festivities starting Friday, this Jamboree has fun for the whole family all weekend long. Meet the Pirates, listen to a local historian give updates on the ever evolving story of Black Beard, watch a play, and listen to the Motley Tones on Friday at the Ocracoke Community Center starting at 7pm. ($5 admission) Surrounding Historic Silver Lake Harbor, the Jamboree's events on Saturday begin at 10am, when everyone dresses in their best pirate garb for interactive history exhibits, local arts, food, drinks and music! At 1pm Saturday see for yourself the fierce ship to ship battle of Ocracoke that determined Black Beard's fate. Cannons roar and guns fire during this epic battle on Silver Lake. Games, crafts and music will keep the kiddos occupied until Trick-Or-Treating around Lighhouse Road Loop begins at 3pm until 5pm (because it's going to be dark so early!) Enjoy a show after you take your little pirates trick-or-treating at the Ocracoke Oyster Company from the Shadow Players. At noon on Sunday, take a trip out to Springer Point to honor those who perished on that fateful day during Black Beard's final battle. Howard's Pub will be your last stop for lunch with the Pirates as another successful Pirate Jamboree comes to an end on Sunday afternoon.
We can't wait to go with the family, and hope you make it out too!
